Baby Chick Pictures!!!!! POST!

I love my animals also. I regard them better than anyone or anything. I just don't understand why anyone would make such a comparison. Children are not sold for meat in grocery stores! Chickens are not humans. It was just a shocking thing to read... I feel good about knowing that the animals my family eats are loved and cared for, have luxurious lives full of dust bathing, sun basking, quality feed and clean water. we just dropped $900 at the feed store to buy enough secure fencing to give these animals a free range space of over 2 acres. For 10 birds that's pretty substantial! I get a little irritated by people who imply farming and raising animals for food is somehow morally corrupt or deficient! I'm glad people love their birds, I love every creature on my farm but I don't judge people who have different farming practices or goals than I do and that comment deemed a little judgmental, like " I would never eat my children but goodluck!" And I find the comparison asinine and rude. I guess maybe I read it wrong? Just seemed judgemental to me... glad that wasn't the intention. All is forgiven.

All I was trying to say was, one, good luck with raising your chicks, and two, all of my birds are pets. I was just implying that my chickens are my children, and that they're as good as any child or human to me so I don't slaughter them.

Even though chickens aren't humans, how does that make them not worth something? But it's fine, everyone can have their own opinion.

AWWWW hugs ya'all.

I hope everyone is ok now and we can move forward with our chicks, chickens, children, pets etc.

Changing subject..........
I find that since my older hens have restarted with the laying I am getting a bit overrun with eggs. I got 87 eggs this week out of my 19 older hens. OH MY GOODNESS I dare say we shall be having potato salad and deviled eggs and perhaps even some baking going on here today.
We went for almost 7 months with 0 yes 0 eggs now most of my egg customers are getting theirs from other sources. That means more for us lol.

AND a chick pic to cheer up the day.

Sandy my buff Brahma at about 3 weeks old. SUPER sweet little gal and coming along nicely.

Now I must post a pic that I have posted before of little Grandma.

She is so fluffy OMG I just adore this little chick.

They're all so cute! I had brahmas though, and they were nightmares, I'm afraid. Not bad as chicks, but nightmares as teenagers. The rooster attacked me brutally and the hen wouldn't pass up a chance to make my bleed by pecking my back when I wasn't looking.
It made me sad, though. I had to sell them to homes that wanted a breeding pair of Brahmas, and I hope they're still living happily today.

Chicks from this year!
HAHAHAHA I love that over the shoulder stink eye there.

What breed/breeds did you get? Super cute little buggers.

So far the little Brahmas are nice enough. I have a few buff laced polish in there with them and no one is being mean. I can split my coop and run in the future if there are meanies in the bunch.

Aw! How adorable! They seem to really like you, pet birds, I'm guessing? You wouldn't want to get so attached to meat birds, I don't think. (This is why I can't raise any meat animals, it's not possible for me. LOL)
not pet but well handled yes.. I have issues with mean chickens from my childhood s o I like to make su re they are well handled well socialized and can deal with them...no problem with meat birds and handling either..... least I know they had lots of love affection good food and pleasant life before they provide me with life :) and is amix of keepers and meat birds actually.......Dumpling the turkey is ear marked for thanksgiving dinner :)

Tractor supply impulse buy... hubby wanted some meat birds... they are supposed to be 5 red rangers and 5 Cornish rocks. Are either of these breeds sexable? Some of the Red Rangers have dots on their heads, does that mean anything?

are they cornish cross or dark cornish? I dont know about the sexable...though I think the cornish cross might be sexable but could be wrong
