Picked up 30 BB Red Old English Bantams

700

Picked up 10 golden & silver fawn duckwing old english bantams for a close friend.

They still run to the corner whenever they feel me present. If I put my hand in they go running for the corner jumping on each other trying to get away. Hopefully this will stop and they will get use to me but something makes me doubtful yet hopeful.

Momma hen got out of nest this morning while I was gone to pick up materials and welder for new pen construction. Am soooo happy she and babies are doing good. Was a long 72 hour wait to finally see her off nest once I knew she had started hatching. Have 7 live, healthy babies. All drinking and eating.

My babies at 1.5 weeks. I dyed my white Silkie(Noodles) pink with a small bath in the sink, some food colouring, and a toothbrush.
The one on the right is my Silver-laced Cochin, Peridot.

I'm about 96% sure Peridot is a pullet. I'm not sure about Noodles' sex yet. S/he can be pretty flighty when trying to pick it up. They both like being held and love to take naps on my shoulders. :)

Husband: So we have 18 hens.
Me: 22 hens.
Husband: 18 and a rooster.
Me: We have 22 and a rooster. Not 18.
Husband: I thought we had 15 arrive today and 4 last weekend. So how did we get 4 more?
Me: I told you I went to get a chicken feeder. It came with 4 Barred Rock chicks. Lucky me huh?!
Husband: <husband is suspicious but decides to continue our discussion> So... that averages out to 430 dozen eggs a year.
Me: Well, give or take.... I mean, we shouldn't have more than 8 dozen at any time. And you get to wake up every morning to Don Quixote, The Rooster so I think we did good.

Our little ones are all home, happy, eating and pooping. Hens: 4 Buff Orps, 4 Barred Rocks, 3 (or 4) Amer/EE, 6 (or 5) Welsummer, 4 Gold Sex Links; Rooster: 1 Welsummer; Surprises: 1 maybe a White Leghorn (there was a shipping error so we are just waiting to see what he/she grows up to be).

Our surprise... one of these is not like anyone else. This was a Buddy System Fail!

Suck a pretty girl
