Okay this is my first time having chicks and I'm loving my experience. I just got my chickens from Ideal Poultry and they shipped on Tuesday... They are about 4-5 days old. Well one thing I'm noticing is they aren't pooping that much. My adult chickens and even some month old chickens I got from my mother in law poop every half hour (or more) But I will hold these chicks for hours and they never poop on me. I have one in particular that I just love and take everywhere with me and I haven't seen him poop once.

I just want to make sure that this is normal or if something serious could be wrong.

Thanks for your help!

Thats what I was wondering but their butts look fine. And its not just one in particular... I took 3 to work with me today and never saw them poop at all. There IS poop in the cage I have them in but I'm surprised as long as I hold them they aren't pooping on me at least once an hour or something.

well I have my third set of baby chicks and if you hold them for hours at a time, they might get hungry and thirsty, I cant hold mine for more then thirty minutes without them wanting food, like if they start pecking at everything that probably means they are hungry.

Oh yeah and mine have baby pellets but I watch them and its hard for them to eat those so I either give them the dust at the bottom of the bag or I crumble up the bigger pieces for them (yes I spoil them hehe) and I gave them a new thing to eat out of because they are getting bigger and it took em a while to eat out of it so make sure your not changing what they are eating out of a lot.

So I could be loving it to death huh? They are all in their cage now.... I honestly haven't been holding it non stop. I put it down and hold others.

hehe I understand you pain, I hate putting mine down and even holding them could cause them to be hold because it's hard to get 90 degrees in your hands lol. Then being to cold could cause unusual behavior. And watch them eat see what they do, maybe you will have some food crushing in your future. Good Luck
