I think my baby chick has a cold. she sneezes and has a runny nose. she is NOT lethargic at all. Matter of fact she is mad at me for locking her up in her heated room under the 100 watt heat lamp. Normally she is allowed to come and go as she pleases and she returns to her lamp when she gets cold. She is to be my emotional support chicken/traveling companion. So she is the only one. her current room (will change as she grows) is a Bird carrier with lid. The lid can come off and is usually off in the mornings so she can do chick stuff. I cleaned her room, her flooring is shredded paper as that has more warmth. She has a teddy bear and a mirror. I put some honey in her water. What else can I do at home to help her over this cold?

I was able to get some apple vinegar and put a couple drops in her fresh water after she graciously turned her last bowl of water into a toilet and tried to drown her teddy bear.

Chickens dont get colds. What are you using for bedding in the brooder? Best case scenario is that it's just irritating her. Where did you get her from?

currently she has shredded paper. not newspaper, just regular paper from mail. I got her from North 40.

I keep her room cleaned daily and she has free run around the office until she gets feathers to go outside. her running beak still won't clear up even with honey or a drop of apple vinegar in her water. what else can I do. is she too young for antibiotics? she still very active to where she gets chick zoomies.

In unsure. I know tylan 50 is .25ml per lb and tylan 200 is .06ml per pound 3x a day for 5 days.

they can't get colds but they can get a respiratory infection which shows as a runny nose.
When we get a cold we eat hot chicken soup. The idea is it has lots of nutrients to boost our immune system so use the same logic and feed this one scrambled eggs to boost its immune system.
It will either fight off the infection or not but if you can get it some chick vitamins that will certainly help

she seems to be feeling just fine doing chick zoomies and pitching a fit when I go freshen up her water. she is very clingy. just the way I like it LOL. she has been finding zupreem fruit pellets on the ground. Those should be ok for her, right? our parakeet likes them. I also like to take her outside during sunny days so she gets some vitamin D
