BABY CHICK WITH MESSED UP LEGS NEED HELP!

I have been having issues with this baby chick from incubation, and I don’t want to get rid of it, it’s part of the family now. This chick had trouble hatching out of the shell and we had to assist it when the membrane dried. Once it was out it had a curled foot and we did the coin to fix it. The chick is now roughly three weeks old and I thought it started to develop splayed legs, which I tried different methods of fixing it and it didn’t work at all, and the marks on its legs are from a rubber band, which I didn’t know it was causing that and I feel bad now. After having a thing to pull the legs together for roughly 5 days it didn’t do anything. Is this chicks leg possibly broken or something like that?? Please help!!

It looks like the chick has valgus deformity in one leg and a twisted tendon in the right leg. Or valgus in both legs. Unfortunately I don’t think that you can fix that. But perhaps with splinting you can try to see if it helps. Padding and vet wrap strips for support would be what I would do. I would give some vitamin B complex daily in the food, 1/4 tablet crushed. Poor baby! You can do a search on here for "splayed leg" and get good info on how to splint the legs. It may not be too late. We had a chick with splayed legs, and we successfully splinted them. (I would never put a rubber band on the legs, you can cut off circulation.)

That’s what I thought it initially had but I tried multiple ways of keeping them together I did rubber band and it wouldn’t stay tied, then the ponytail type, but it didn’t help any at all.

Alright thank you I’ll check that out and try splinting. I’m gonna have to read up on how to do it though.

How tight was something around her legs???? What are those indents from???

The feet look a little swollen from the bands on her legs, so I would massage her legs to try and help some of the swelling to go down.

Never use a rubber band on any animal for anything except castration. Many animals, specially dogs, have lost parts to people using rubber bands.

It didn’t seem tight at all and it was a pony tail that wasn’t tied.

I watched multiple videos and looked online and a bunch of people used ponytails or rubber bands. Yeah I know once I saw the chicks leg I felt so bad. That’s why I’m on here asking for other solutions.
