Hello all,

Long time lurker, first time poster - have learned lots from reading here. Unfortunately I’ve not been able to sort this out by searching. I have a 4 week (almost) old chick with a growth on her neck. It does seem to bother her in that she scratched it bloody. I bought her and several others all together - they’re all fine. If she had the growth when I brought her home it was tiny and not noticeable. I’ve only noticed it in the last week. I originally separated her maybe two weeks ago as she seemed to kind of walk funny and we were worried she had something going on but now I think it was just her neck. I’ve kept her separated because I did try to put them back together and someone picked at her neck in spite of blue-coat. She has no problems walking, eating, drinking, pooping. Nothing abnormal (aside from this) and her sisters are all fine.

This growth has definitely gotten larger - I don’t know what it is or what to do. I don’t want to euthanize when she seems like such a sweet little thing and fine otherwise. 😰

For now she’s separated and I taped her toes so she can’t claw at her neck.

I know its hard to tell in the pictures ( and the blue coat doesn’t help) but its a large donut shaped growth thats fixed to her skin. Its hard - not squishy. The lighter purple ring is the outside the dark center is all scab from scratching and being pecked. Doesnt seem to affect her throat at all. Not sure what other info I could give.

Edit: maybe should add they’re all on medicated feed and I’ve no idea on vaccine status

Sorry that's rough. Hard to have such a little one in bad shape.

Unfortunately hard crater shaped lumps are usually cancer, though it's hard to believe given how young she is.... Tagging @Eggcessive to see what they think

Well she’s still eating and drinking normally. Nice full crop tonight. No real change. Makes me sad to keep her isolated and breaks my heart to think she probably won’t make it.
