I’ve got a Mumma duccle and three chicks that she’s hatched. They’re about 3 weeks old
I could hear one of the babies chirping so I went outside to find it separated from Mum and other chicks, I picked it up to move it back to her and noticed it was injured.
The back of her neck/base of her skull is torn skin, and if I look inside I can see an orange tube that looks like it’s been torn too.
She’s distressed when she’s inside with me, so I’ve separated her Mum and other babies from the flock and put them all together, she just wants to curl up under her Mum.
I’ve put betadine on the tear and given it a good wash with sterile saline, and I’ve given her some broad spectrum antibiotics.
Does anyone have any advice? What does the prognosis look like?
