Baby chicken + waterer?

Will they figure it out? It's the "hanging 5 gallon bucket" with the "metal teats". I just put them in the coop with it and am about to go t o bed, but don't want them to go all day without water if this is going to befuddle them.

They are 10 days old. Is this old enough to "figure it out"?

I think I would hold one of the chicks up to the 'teat' so they know where and what it is. And make sure they can reach it.

If they are going to figure it out, they will, as long as it's hanging low enough that they can reach it without stretching too far above their heads. They'll get curious and poke at them. Nipple waterers are very common and most birds figure it out, I just have really stupid chickens, mine went 24 hours with nothing to drink because they thought it was great fun to poke and watch the drop fall to the floor.

10 days old is fine, just like I said, make sure they can reach it without too much stretching.

It's face-height if the walk up to it standing normal.

I did this. It did not care. IT wanted let free.

Mine were really dense and never figured it out, i'd leave a bowl of water out lest you come back to chicken raisins.

Until you confirm that they know how to use it I'd leave a second source of water. You might have to take each bird and tap the nipple for them so they put one and one together.
