Baby chicks are scared!

My chicks are a week and 2 days old. I just now moved them from their small brooder to the big boy Brooder, was I too soon?? They aren't taking it well AT ALL.
They are chirping and screaming. Should I put them back?? Pics below

no just leave them alone make sure the heat lamp is close enough but not too close

Its so heart breaking hearing them, at first I would speak to them when they started crying, but when they heard my voice they started crying even louder so I'm just sitting across the room where they can't see me just listening.
But as long as I'm not hurting them by moving them too soon..

How old are they?? Maybe just move them back and wait a week

Check that they are not too cold. Chicks yell to let you know that something is not right. In looking at your set up, I think your heat lamp is too high but the perspective in the photo makes it difficult to tell. Be very careful with this set up and make sure that your heat lamp is VERY securely fastened at the top so it cannot fall into the brooder. Ideally you might think about something like this instead https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...er-picture-heavy-update.956958/#post-14882145 It takes away all the risks from a heat lamp and the chicks love it!

Sounds like they may be cold. Draft’s are not so good. I used a old bath towel rolled it long ways and made a half circle where their heat lap was. It was easy for them to climb over into the warmth or away. I used the same towel when I introduced them to their pen within the pen when they moved outside they instantly knew it was their safe place while they were out (much older than yours) they’ll let you know when they are unhappy.

They are 10 days old. You think I should move them back? Not to much stress?
I can do that if it would be better to wait till they are older

hmm make sure they have enough heat put them under the lamp so they feel the heat

There is no reason why you can’t move them. I’ve moved a lot of chicks and they adapt within minutes if they are happy. They are either too cold or too hot.

I agree on them not knowing where the warm is or it being too cold
