A really dumb move on my part was to forget to louse the broody hen before we stuck eggs under her. Then again, the powder we have for lousing is overly toxic and might not be the best thing to get on incubating eggs...
Fast forward 25 days, and I have noticed that my precious fuzzballs have white clusters of knits on their heads, and I'm afraid that the infestation could have adverse effects on them. I rubbed Vaseline into the feathers atop one's head in hopes to smother the knits, but I am hesitant to do it to the others if it is revealed to be a bad idea.
Any advice on home remedies or louse killers that are safe with chicks?
