Baby chicks countdown thread!

Pics
Update for me I got a very late call from the post office and when I arrived there they were closed and I almost didn't get my chicks but I did get them and they are alive. I had put in a tracking claim with the post office and the lady named Kelly who says she handles all live animal issues was making calls and looking into it so I think she helped me. I haven't taken pictures cuz I got to go to work I work night shift and I got to go to work now. Good luck to everybody still waiting I hope everything goes well

My chicks are shipping February 23rd, so I have 2 more weeks left! I ordered from Ideal Poultry. I got 2 Dominiques, 3 Easter Eggers, and 2 Welsummers. I hope my chicks arrive safely! I am only 2 hours away from the hatchery so they should be fine. I can't wait for them! :D
So glad you made your decision! I can’t wait to see what your EE look like as they can vary between colors and patterns! ❤️

@Iluveggers Just got the chicks. Al of them were screaming and alive. The box had a good amount of straw and, with just my 9, it was pretty warm inside. I just snapped this picture really quick and will get better ones one the sun comes up. Right now they're under the heat pad. They were screaming for a bit but settled down once they warmed up.

Question, has anyone ever used the heating pad brooding method? I have it set up put the chicks under it. Once they realized it was warmth they stayed put and got quiet but what temperature do I set it on. It has low, medium, and high. Would medium be OK or should I put it at high for a few days while they acclimate?
I used it but mine has I think 9 levels. I started around 7 I think. You want it warm that you can leave your hand on it for a while and not feel that it is "burning" hot on your palm. I would try it on medium and see if they are quiet or seem cold and are peeping a lot or really huddled. Mine still huddled under it just so they were close but some would hang closer to the edges a couple way under etc. since mine had so many settings I turned it down a notch about every 4 days and they were off heat I think around 4 weeks old and happy as could be.
