I looked that one up earlier when I searched for threads with the same symptoms but these chicks are 4 weeks old and from a brief search the mushy chick disease only affects week old chicks.

Ok so I've looked all around the free range area. The mommas are taking their babies up into the compost bin and with this warmer weather there's some very moldy stuff in there... and I found a spot where we'd dumped a bit of chick started dust that was in the bottom of a feed bag and it was soggy and gross. Do you think it could be botulism? I looked up the symptoms and it seems very very similar to ours...

Fatigue, weakness, ruffled feathers, diarrhea, sudden death
Cardinal or diagnostic signs -
Neurological symptoms, including flaccid (floppy, not stiff) paralysis of limbs and neck, eyes partially closed, shaking or trembling, stumbling, torticollis."

I am so sorry Tori Mold will kill your chicks but also if the chick tried to swallow something just a tad too big or even a juicy bug with shell ,

If you have Corid, it will not hurt to start them on it. Coccidiosis is the most common cause of chick death and very simple to treat. Different strains will cause different symptoms. If you have had wet weather, it is quite likely to be that, so try the easy option first and if they don't respond, then try something else.

I do not think choking. His stomach is bloated and he has been alive far too long with the symptoms to have something restricting or blocking his airway. I think coccidiosis, but I am not a chicken doctor and have never treated for that many diseases so I may very well be wrong. I will keep you and the family in thoughts and prayers!
