Everyone who participated in the may hatch-along (and everyone who received hatchery chickens in may) - how are your chickens doing? I'm just curious, as when the hatchalong is over, everyone seems to just wander off without givign updates.

I had 10 chickens hatch in may. Four hedemora chickens, and 6 buff orpingtons. They all seem to be doing just fine together, feathering out nicely, spending the warm summer days outside in a bunny-cage and the nights in their indoor brooder. I can already tell one of the hedemora's are a cockerel. If I'm lucky all the other hedemora's are pullets and I won't have to cull any

I don't have any photos of them yet, as I just got home from a two-week stay at the hospital. But I'll try to get some shots and show you soon! They're gorgeous, especially the hedemora's are stealing my heart...

I had a better hatch rate than I expected. Out of 11 chicken eggs 7 live chicks, 2 didn't make it, and out of 18 guinea eggs I had 6 hatch. I wish the guineas had done better, but overall I'm not complaining.

Not too shabby! where they shipped eggs? I set 20 shipped hedemora eggs in may, and only 4 hatched. So I feel ya on the guinea's! But I guess that's just a part of the game - sometimes we get crappy hatches... I've had a 100% hatch rate on the eggs from my own flock though. So very pleased with that.
