Don't know if this can be done on live animals. When I used to do taxidermy when tumbling the hides for mounting Borax would be tossed in with the corn cob medium as a preventive measure against Dermis mites that attacked the hair follicles. I have mounts from the 90s that look like they were done yesterday. But who's willing to sacrifice a bird for an experiment? Something else to ponder, huh.
