Baby chicks outside with the mama in the cold

One of my flocks, with two different sets of chicks - my SF had one set, my silkie the other.

I’m so nervous right now. My Japanese blue silkie went broody on 9 eggs. She was high in the coop and I was worried the rooster and other hens would kill the hatchlings. I moved mom and eggs into a dog crate in the garage. Around Feb 14th 4 hatched (one went missing). I have 3 chicks, 5 more eggs that I’m not sure will hatch. This is my first time and I’m in Ohio...so it’s been really cold. She’s been a good mom. I don’t know when or how to move them to the coop. The dog crate won’t fit in the coop. And how would I secure something so mom can get in to the babies, but the others can’t?

I would nix the heat lamp and let the chicks wander around with momma. She'll do her job of keeping those babies warm. I've had babies in the snow before, they did just fine. Good luck!
My chicken just hatched done and I was wondering on the cold. She is in a small space with a house light and a chicken heater. Do you think , the chicks be oksy?
