Hello! I have a flock of 8 beautiful mixed breed chicks. I originally had just 4 bantam breeds (2 brown old english and 2 black ones) but then my father got 4 more regular sized chickens from a coworker of his, all of whom are mixed kinds.
We have had them for 4 days and I’ve noticed 3 out of the 4 new chicks have developed “colds” the day after we got them.
They have been sneezing, have runny noses, and occasionally need to breathe with their mouths. One in particular makes slight squeaky noises when they breathe.
They still eat and drink ok and play around sometimes too. Poops seem to be a bit watery and a lighter brown.
I've read that this could be upper respiratory disease, and it stays with them the rest of their lives! How can I tell if it is something serious or if it has spread to the others?
I bought some Vet RX that will be coming in Tuesday, as they don’t seem to be suffering too badly.
