Baby chicks

Got it, that makes more sense why your friend was able to hatch a chick.
I have seen things on the internet were people use a heat lamp, I haven't tried it.
I believe you would find more success out of using an incubator. There are some people that have made their own incubators and found success out of them.
If you are truly wanting to hatch your own eggs, you will either need a rooster or a fertilized egg. Are you able to have a rooster where you live?

No but there was a hand that was running around I called it about two to three days ago and now it's laying eggs so I'm guessing when it was running around I'm guessing I found a rooster and had mated with the rooster I'm not sure but the only thing I do have is a heat lamp because I have other baby chickens and I'm hoping this will work I'm hoping it was fertilized

It could be fertilized or it may not be. If you are going to try this, you may want to grab a couple more eggs from her the next couple days.
It will take 21 days to hatch and it will be the only chick that size with all your other chicks so be prepared to intervene if the other chicks gang up on it. Chicks can seem to be cruel and they may kill the one and only chick. Having more than one hatched chick would allow this one chick to not be alone. You will need to have a separate brooder ready.

Okay so my hen just layed an egg and she doesn't no how to lay on it so I brought it inside and I got an heat lamp and a brand new sponge and I damped it in water than I put my egg on it under the heat lamp I'm just wondering if I am doing it right
What are you trying to do?
Hatch it?
That’ll never work.
