baby chicks

I have chickens now and am about to get more babies. My question is can I utilize a tractor to protect the babies from the big chicks if I hang a heat lamp inside to warmth? I'm hoping this will work as the system I used to have got left in Colorado when we moved to Oklahoma. Any thoughts?

The chicks need to be protected from drafts also, so you may want to rethink that...
