I have week old chicks. I forget when can put them outside. Az is about 85 here at night now. the days are around 108.
Are any of you on a farm...I also have baby goats (Nigerian Dwarf Registered). These babies ae ready to leave home 12 week old. Next group are are due in Oct. Anyway...hope you can advise me on the chicks. thanks.

90-95 degrees first week of life and decrease by 5 degrees each week until fully feathered at 6 weeks or so.

(I have my 2 1/2 week olds running in and out of the shed right now- it's 80 outside.)

BUT when they are less than 3 weeks old you have to be careful because they will stand outside and freeze if it is cold rather than remember to go in under their light.

I make sure they have access to the proper temperature at all times. So if the temp. drops with overcast weather, I have that lamp on (it's off right now so they don't cook in there).

SO- my recommendation is to wait until 3 weeks unless you can watch them pretty carefully from your window to make sure they aren't getting stranded.
