Hi! It's strange that no one had any questions about baby chicks, but I think I might have a question you could answer for me. I just recently got 17 chicken eggs from one of my generous neighbors, and he said that they have one rooster with (i think) around 50 hens. (They might have multiple coops for them, so I don't know how many hens were mingling with the rooster). I started to incubate them, and within one day, I could only see only ONE egg out of the 17 eggs I had that had an embryo growing inside. I might candle them later tonight or maybe tomorrow night, but I was wondering- the shells are brown shades (like those of a rhode island red, which is what I think the hens are), and the eggs I've ever tried to hatch before where white to light green. Will it take an extra day to see the development in a light brown egg than a white egg, or are the rest of them just infertile? I will probably keep them all in there for a few more days, and if I don't see any improvement, then I will be sure that they are infertile. This has nothing to do with the chicks themselves, but I can't really get any specific answers unless I were to start my own 'thread.' I am just wondering...
