Unless you have to, especially if your hen isn't broody, you shouldn't let your hens raise the chicks. Why? Sometimes, the mother hen will reject some chicks (and kill them) and if she's not interested in being the mother hen, she could kill all of them. I would recommend to just raise them in a brooder!I am getting chicks on Tuesday march 10 (tomorrow) and I was watching videos of chicks on YouTube while I was in the chicken coop. One of the hens started looking every where for them and making noises. Do you think she would raise the chicks even though she isn't broody?
