baby chix vs. POL pullets??

i dont even know if this is the correct section to put this in but anyway here goes....

i have some friends who think they may be wanting to start w/ chixn....

i would like some input on whether to start w/ babies....which is my suggestion

but DH says POL...just cut the cost of feeding babies

tell me what your choice is and why....thnx for the info

babys might drop over dead for no reason, or too hot or too cold- or it was just not meant to be... also babies might not be sexed right leaving you with extra roos.... also cicks (babies) are food to a much larger set of animals and have different requirements then POL hens.

babies can be trained, will recognize your voice and movements and are cute....

POL are already past the defenseless stage and the needing the heat lamp, they can have calcium in higher concentration but may never 'like' you and you missed seeing them grow up.

If your just after eggs or breeding ... POL, if you want pets chicks.

Definitely POL. Not worth the fuss raising chicks if you just want eggs.
