give supportive care and see what happens. You can apply neosporin without any numbing agent to keep wound clean. Is it just skin missing or is muscle exposed?

I had one of my young chicks skinned about a week or so ago. Took ALL the skin off the back of her neck. It was HORRIFIC!!!

Had to cut the dangling skin off, put some antibiotic on it and kept her seperated (So nobody picked at it) It is now almost completely healed, skin is growing back nicely, hopefully feathers will follow.

Chickens seem to be quite resilient when it comes to wounds... it's the respitory infections that seem to take them down quick.

Antibiotic and isolation and in a week you will be pleasantly surprised!!

Tougher than they look. In despair at the vets being shut one weekend I gave a baby in a similar situation stitches (I washed a household needle and strong thread with antiseptic). Washed the wound well with saline and stitched it exactly as I would sew up a tear in fabric. It worked very well to pull the edges of the wound together and when it was well healed I pulled the stitches out and once the feathers grew in hyou would never know what had happened. Most importantly keep the bird warm, dry and clean.
