Hi, I'm hatching Pekin ducks in my classroom. Today begins day 29. We have a duckling who was stuck in the egg and drying out. We helped him to hatch out but he is very weak, not fluffing up. He seems underdeveloped in ways but is struggling to survive. Any suggestions or help is welcomed!

A rough hatch is very exhausting to a duckling/chick. It can take them longer to get up and walk etc. I think it would be best to post on the "Duck thread." I don't know what temps. the brooder should be kept at., etc. How soon they should be eating and drinking.. Please do not give up on him.

I hope your little one is doing a bit better by now?

Had the same similar problem too years ago with a African goose. Best advice I can say to do is keep a lamp on them and be adament on manually feeding and helping them to drink water. When I say adament I mean hourly check ups, stayed up all night on time with mine.
