Hello!! I just got two beautiful baby ducklings that hatched two days ago! They want to be with me so bad. I’ll occasionally take them out of their brooder and they will climb all up on me and sleep in between my legs. I love when they do this however I have one main concern. My concern is regarding their heat lamp. How often and for what duration is safe for ducklings to be out of their brooder without the heat lamp? Keep in mind they are only two days old.

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated!

Kindly,
Marissa

What is the temperature in your house?
If young birds huddle together, they are cold. If they move all about, they are comfortable.
Do you know the temperature under the heat lamp?
Ducklings wean themselves from heat earlier than chicks but 2 days is still quite young.
Other than megapodes, ducks, geese, turkey, grouse and kildeer are the most precocial birds.
