Baby ducks

can baby ducks have mites and what can I do that's safe to treat them. Can they have a bath in very shallow water?

They can have mites, especially if they were hatched under a hen or are near adult birds. I have dusted chicks with a pyrethrin based poultry dust for mites in the past.

I have always read not to let young ducklings have baths because they don't have the oil or the waterproof feathers yet, but some do give them baths. Just be careful they don't become chilled.
