If there is enough vacuum to pull the raised circle of the lid down, there is enough vacuum. If not, then not. Otherwise, it doesn't matter how far the lid is pulled down. At least, I think that is how it works. How else makes any sense?
There's not much if any of a dimple on the new Ball lids which is why they didn't pop. The Walmart lids all have a pronounced dimple in the center.

I switched to Superb lids, the blue seals. I was having problems with Ball lids and when I contacted the Ball company they made it sound like it was my fault. So, I switched to Superb.
I believe they have to pop to be sealed. If you can use your fingers to take the lid off, they are not sealed.
My mom has switched to Superb brand also. I have only ever had one lid not seal, in all my years of canning. I plan on using all my Ball lids that I bought and might switch but haven't decided

Victorio

But I don't know anything about the three you named.
I didn't see that brand when I was researching, but thanks. I ended up ordering one of these...

This forces the food through the screen. It has an auger inside the screen. It is very fast and very effective at getting things separated. It has different screens/augers for different kinds of foods. I think it comes with the tomato setup but I inherited mine so I'm not sure. We always set it up outside (clamp it to a picnic table or deck rail). I think it could reasonably be clamped to a table inside but we use the table for other things and can go faster if we aren't paying attention to drips and splash.

Before I inherited mine, I tried the style you ordered, although I don't know if it was the same brand. It pushes the food around as the food barely dribbles through the screen. In comparison at least. I didn't keep it.

You got that right! Been there, done that, many times.

I might have to order one like what you show.
