Baby Hens panting even though temp is alright?

I have since worked out the temperature madness... I can't believe that my little baby chicks are already one whole week old! They have gotten fat over this one week! I'm not too sure that my chickens know how to self-regulate their food intake. I think I might havae goteen stupid chickens... JK

Your out of the woods for now. If they are getting bigger and fatter, they are healthy, and I don't know if there is anything like a smart chicken.

Remember, when you take the temp of the brooder to take it on the floor directly under the light. You should be measuring the temp in the warmest part of the brooder floor only.

I had my hatch in Feb. and kept theg warm with a 60 watt red reg blub in the house in a box made into a brooder. lond enough
to have lamp to one side and food to the other.
I only use a 250 watt heat lamp out in the big house in the dead of winter. they are telling you they need to cool down.
