First night on her eggs-

She screamed at me when I looked under her. She even almost pecked me! She is normally so sweet, but now she is just plain vicious! Oh, and in case anyone is wondering, she is nesting in a shoe box.

Well, it’s that time of the year again, and Baby Midget has decided to go broody. She is 9 months old, and this is her first ever time, and she is just so determined to hatch out chicks that she refused to give up, so here we are.

Baby Midget (or Midge) has been broody for some days now, and she is very serious about it. I think she will be a wonderful mother, and I am so excited to watch it happen.

We gave her some eggs today. They are all bantam eggs except one. (We are giving her one large egg because it is almost for sure fertile. This way, if the bantam eggs fail, she will at least have one baby.) We gave her 8 eggs, but it was too much for her, so we took one away.

We have her in one of our chick cages, and this is where she will hatch her eggs and where her chicks will grow up, until they are old enough to go out.

The estimated hatch date is: April 7th.

Hope some eggs are from Nilla!! Candled my eggs yesterday, all seem to be developing too.

I was one day off, I am really on day 4-5 with my eggs. I was all impressed with an egg it thought was day 2 yesterday, but I counted the days, I figured it out. Below is my double yolk egg day 4 which is normal.

Okay.... I’m gonna try to put one more egg under Midget. Two bantam eggs were laid- Cookie’s (in the feeder, of course) and Twinkie’s. My question is this: who’s egg do I put under her?

Both would be fertilized by the same rooster, Blue (the rooster I showed previously).

We’ll see if she even accepts one more, but she has been doing a lot better with her tiny eggs, and I think she could take on one more.
