I am glad you are not going to put 40 eggs under a hen.
I combined eggs in an incubator, that were one day apart, but I had separate incubators going and when the new eggs were of temp I combined them. I didn't combine cold eggs with warm ones. If you do in an incubator, make sure they are not near one another.
