Baby Quail News!

A very interesting read. ^^ I enjoyed it! Also, I had a realization... The babies look like little black bear cubs. The light beaks and the chest patch with the almost black fuzzy body. I got little tiny peeping bears it seems! :)
Very cute. Lets hope they stay small. I also got to thinking that if we vary the humidity from initially higher to mid range we would get larger chicks and a higher hatch rate. Definitely worth the experiment.

Sadly I have no incubator to experiment with and I doubt Fluffy would enjoy me putting water under her.

It does sound like an interesting experiment though!

Right now my babies are all snuggled in my hand enjoying cuddles, though I heard it is hard to keep them tame when there are multiple chicks, the babies still climb onto my hand for cuddles when not distracted by food. One in particular cries if I don't talk for a period of time and don't pick him/her up for cuddles. They prefer to nap in my hand instead of the brooder too, likely feeling safer. ^^ Once they get moving again though, I have to juggle 4 chicks that try to jump out of my hand to explore. XD

They are only 4 days old, and yet they run about and can even jump, yet I still keep underestimating them due to how tiny they are.

Indeed they are. ^^

Just moved them into a larger tub as they started getting too tall for the cricket tub, and they are settling down after a good cuddle in my hand and them locating the tomato in their new food bowl. They also have a larger water bowl too which is filled with pebbles, as they started draining the smaller one too quickly. XD Right now they are all snuggled together enjoying the warmth, occasionally leaving the cuddle pile to eat and causing chaos as the others try and get back into position.

Also, my cat is being VERY well behaved. She usually hunts birds and is known for snatching them out of nests at times, which made me rather concerned for my babies, but she has shown 0 interest in my quails and doves, and honestly seems more interested in watching the baby quails while she naps more than anything, they are like a tv to her. Even when I open the tub with her around, she just gives a curious glance at them due to the peeps and then moves on.

These babies...
I read it takes 4 hours for them to start dehydrating, yet they'd rather snuggle in their house than leave to eat and drink, so I gotta scoop them out of bed and put them in the food bowl, leave them to eat, and then after they finish eating, dunk their beaks in the water so they realized water was there, then leave them to drink.
And when done, they climb onto my hand for cuddles, and then after I am done cuddling them, I slot them back into their little house to sleep.

They also get lost trying to go into the little house. Trying to go in from the side so I gotta gently poke them in the right direction for them to go in.

Edit:

Here are the babies in their brooder, they love tomato. ^^

Getting rather skittish and rebellious, being basically teenagers now XD But they are still cuddly when they want to be and love being in my shirt pouch and petted.
