Baby Rooster

FYI.....semantics, maybe, but can be important communication terms when discussing chicken behavior.

Female chickens are called pullets until one year of age, then they are called hens.

Male chickens are called cockerels until one year of age,
then they are called cocks(or cockbirds or roosters).

Age in weeks or months is always a good thing to note.

Terminology is important. If someone comes on here and talks about how their bird is suddenly aggressive, it's going to make a difference whether that bird is a rooster or a cockerel. Best not to have people confused about the terms.
Nobody is attacking you. It's an FYI.

This little guy needs a new home. He isn't nice at all to the other chicks. He is attacking their necks.Any tips on where to post him? He is Nice to people, just nothing else. Feel so bad, but I can't have him here trying to hurt all the others. He was separated and I put another pullet in with him. They were fine until today. My poor little pullet is a little beat up, but on the mend.

Didn't take it as an attack love. Just saying my mom corrects me all the time.

You can post him in the local section on here for wherever you are, or on craigslist, but I doubt you'll be able to find him a home that's not a soup pot. There's not much demand for roosters, especially when they aren't a rare breed.

Thank you. For now we have him in his own area away from all the little chicks. He can see my hens and ducks. Going to see how well he does when he gets older. I don't want to see him become dinner. I could do that myself.

This is the little guy. He came home Feb 6th. Was one of the three our daughter gave to my husband as a birthday gift. Not sure what breed he is. He still has the little man complex, so we spoil him and keep him from direct contact with the rest of the flock. He is very sweet to humans still, thankfully.
