Hi everyone,

i have a problem.

We found outside a babychicken and took it home. After being a bit shy, it seems ok. Survived one night with us and its eating and drinking with big appetite.

It peeps (speaks) makes kaka and runs around.
We keep it warm with a lamp and fluffy towels.

No we found something on its back, between the anus and the legs.
We were shocked if it could be a tumor, so we read about it. I cant say clearly what it is, a tumor? A rest of the "navel"? The egg yolk which is not suppose to stay outside of the baby?

What can it be?? Anyone has an idea or experiences with that!

Here you have a picture, i hope you can recognize something of it!

If anyone has a quick answere i would be really happy

THANK YOU
Cornelia

Thats happened to some of my chicks before. It isn't a tumor, so no problem there. Its just the umbelical cord and possibly other umbelical junk, usualy dries up and falls off. If the rest of the chicks behaviors are fine then it's ok. Just make sure other chicks dont peck at it, because that could lead to some problems. Have fun with your chick

Hey you two,

thank you a lot for the answeres! Now i feel better! :)
If you click on the pic its getting bigger, maybe then its more clear.
And yes there is also the umbelical cord, i can clearly see it.

great, i will let you know, what will happen

have a nice day

It doesn't look like anything I've seen on our baby chicks. Usually they hatch out with a poopy sac (yellowish in color) that falls off as they walk around. The entrance point can sometimes be a small pinkish or reddish 'dot' like a pinhead of liquid that dries up quickly - this doesn't look like that at all.

It looks more like she's having troubles keeping her 'insides' where they belong.

Or it could be the yolk sack

Granted, we've only hatched out 5 thus far and bought 4...but none of them had that and it doesn't look 'normal' to me. =( I hope she's okay. Where did you find her, exactly? (wondering where the rest of her clutchmates and broody are).

Thank you all for your help!
Unfortunatly and very sadly the little poor chick died last night! :(
I really liked it!

@CluckyCharms, we found it near our village infront of a fabric (later we found out, its a "Chicken fabric") it was laying in a drain and the open eggnext to it on the ground. I guess after it got out of the egg it fell in the drain.
And i am still so wondering how it got infront of the fabric, if its apparently a terrible place for chickens!

have a good life in haven little CouCou
