Bachelor rooster

Thanks for the reply! Doesn't seem too lonely, but definitely quieter than before!
I think if he is active and eating, drinking and all that, he is fine alone. It sounds like you are providing company for him. Integrating new chicks with him will be tricky, but when it comes time to do that, if you do that, a lot of people here can help you through that process.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
You have a beautiful young guy there. I would get two young pullets for him. Do the people across the street have any from the same hatch? That would be ideal.
And I know this is going to "boo'd" but giving him lots of treats is not good for him. I don't give treats at all other than about a handful of meal worms twice a week mixed into the afternoon mash made from Flock Faiser. That handful of meal worms is to be shared among 29 birds. It's easy to go overboard with treats. Try just scattering a handful of chick starter crumble. The result is the same!

View attachment 1938512 Do you have a secure coop and run to keep a flock of chickens safe? Your guy will be fine alone until you decide to get him some friends later. But be aware that his attitude may change quite a bit once he meets some girls. If you're not interested in eggs, people have been successful in keeping just a flock of roosters. Congrats on having such a healthy beautiful boy!
Welcome to BYC - great improvement in a short period of time. Well done.
Thanks for the encouraging words! :)

Thank you! I will keep that good input in mind about the treats! :)

Thank you Feathermaid! Yes, our coop actually got pulled into the garage for the winter. I didn't want to risk a lone bird in an uninsulated coop in the northern Michigan winter. Thank you for your helpful advice!
