I know that this thread is old, but it seems the best place to post my issue. I've been having the same "back button" issues that occurred a while back, but with a newer browser. The problem seems to have been fixed (see below), but I thought y'all should know.
1.Your browser and version: IE 11.0.9600.16428
2.When did it start happening?: No earlier than 11/25/13, when I was able to return to the site after an absence.
3.Does clicking "refresh" allow you to go back?: Yes, the back button will work after refreshing but only for one use
4.Do you have ads turned on or off?: I now do, and the back button issues have gone away. I had allowed my GFM to lapse and the option to turn off ads was therefore not available in profile settings. Renewal of my GFM re-enabled this option and turning off ads in my settings resolved the issue. However, deselecting the option as a (now) current GFM leads to recurrence of backbutton problems. Some might call me crazy, but I don't mind seeing the ads and somewhat wish that the fix weren't to disable them.
5.any other info that might be helpful: Not sure if this would be helpful, but I'll provide this anyway; hope it's not a bunch of red-herring. Having BYC in my list of trusted sites has no effect. In IE, I have placed the security level to 'low' for this site without effect. I do not use any ad-blocking software. My OS is Win7 Home Premium SP1, 64X
This isn't meant to be a complaint. I do understand to a small extent just how byzantine the inner workings of a site like BYC can be. I just imagined what it might be like if I were coming to the site for the first time and how it would be easy to become frustrated. If my experience can come to be of help to others, that's great.
