Back from the Hospital...The RESULTS!

So glad you've got a diagnosis (even if it's not a thriller) and that it's imminently treatable. Keep us posted, and if you need to come to this side of the pond for treatment that you'd be happier with, just holler. I bet you'll have more places to hang your hat than you can shake a chicken at!

Hope you're feeling better now that the drops have worn off and you know what's going on.

EC,

I am most glad you finally got some and that you do not have to go through an eye removal. Best wishes and treatmeant for Glaucoma is pretty decent these days!

Glaucoma is treatable not recoverable. My dad, brother, sister and I (pre-glaucoma) have it. My dad has had it for years. My bro has had it for years. Azopt, alphagan drops everyday for the rest of your life to keep pressure down.

My dad has had multiple surgeries on his eyes and due to those surgeries he had a detached retina in the one good eye he has. He went through 4 surgeries to finally get the retina reattached. He also has contact implants that were put in after cateract removal. My brother has had a few surgeries as well. He now has a filter in his eye to drain fluid so pressure doesn't build up.

My mom was born with cateracts and also has only one good eye. Our family is full of bad eye sighted people.

I'm glad you got a diagnosis that is treatable and that was caught in time. The object is to just follow through with taking the eye drops, pressure checks, and peripheral vision checks. Peripheral vision is the first to go with glaucoma.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions. Happy Holidays and best wishes

!! She really does very well and she's nowhere near blind.

Linda - glad you got a diagnosis. I have the beginning stages of glaucoma. I have to put drops in my eyes every night for the rest of my life to keep the pressure down. Also, my doctor made a tiny hole in the iris of my eyes with a laser, just in case the pressure in my eyes tries to spike up, the fluid can pass through the hole and the pressure can't go too high. I have to see him every three months for a check up. The eye drops burn, but it sure is better than the alternative!

My sister-in-law, (my husbands twin) was born blind from glaucoma. His father has it, they take drops, they do get awful headaches from the pressure sometimes....but they do survive. You will survive. Just keep on keeping close watch on it!

Best Wishes sent your way.

Sorry, Englishchick but at least now you know what you are dealing with. Sometimes the unknown worse than the truth. Our imaginations.....especially at night when all is quiet...can be very scary. Our prayers, thoughts and hugs are all here for you.

When you have glaucoma, be certain to tell your dentist.

If you need a local anesthetic you should never be given one with epinephrine.

Sorry about the diagnosis... glad you caught it early.
