I had a modest flock (9) chickens for a few years. I got rid of them in fall & am starting again with a larger flock of 5 different breeds. Dark Cornish, Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, Sussex, Black Australorp, and Whiting True Blue. Added the latter as ordering a couple more meant free shipping. How can I pass that up? I HAD to. 
I'm going to be insanely busy with these, other critters and garden.
In Eastern Washington area. I started looking at threads because I got 3 Australorp who will be 5 days older than the other 15 arriving tomorrow or the next day. Have a plan for that based on what I read. We'll see how it goes!
