thanks. it seems I will never have plums as there are no other plum trees in this area and I have no room to plant another tree.

Plums can be spaced very closely together. The nursery I purchased my plums from said they can actually be placed close together so that their branches intertwine. This helps with pollination. If you have a young plum, you could plant an other one within about 3 - 5', and then prune each tree so that most of the branches between them are removed, but the outer branches of each tree are allowed to grow larger.

Do you know what kind of plum you have? Certain plum cultivars will only pollinate plums that are closely related.

I literally have no room for another plum. this one is at the corner of my plot behind my porch. 1 feet from the tree is the fence.

last year I found 1 plum. it was like tennis ball but dark blue/purple colour, yellow inside. I guess then it does not need another tree for cross pollination.

I yesterday went to the shop where I purchased it and they say I shouldn't water it between blossoming and seeing the first fruits. and I have water tap next to the tree and water runs into soil. that might be the real issue. another thing is that I have chickens sitting under the tree all day long. too much nitrogen?

if I manage to move to a bigger place I will disturb all of you with questions so that I don't repeat the mistakes. hope you don't mind.

// some plums are self fruitful and will pollinate themselves with minimal success but will do much better with a pollinator, could you have a potted plum tree next year? Maybe on your porch or something? ///// ask away!

thanks for the information.

I do hope to sell the house and move to the country where I will have my dreams come true.

I have a small dwarf plum that has produced plenty of plums and it is the only one I have. It was suppose to be a fruit cocktail but the other grafts did not take.

I have plum blossoms... lots of them. I have one Manchurian apricot with a few blooms! Any one know how long fruit blossoms are viable while waiting to be pollinated? It's been cold and non stop rain here lately. Afraid the apricot blossoms will miss their window. They may not set fruit anyways b/c there is just the one tree. (the other apricot is not going to bloom.) My Juneberry plants are loaded with blossoms.

You could hand pollinate the apricot.

One of my apple trees has about 10 apples on it this year, it's only 3 years old.
