Back yard rabbit group anyone?

this setup i have is only for now. I will get a bigger barn by March keeping this for sick or a storage barn

hello..i have a question about Flemish housing...is a 36 x 48 wire dog crate okay to house one in??...and what is the best bedding to use for them and i want to litter box train him...do i need to add a differant type of litter/bedding to the litter pan? so he understands its his litterbox and NOT his bed....thanks, Wendy

a large dog crate does well for sleeping but if your going to put a litter box in you will need something bigger, bearing in mind an adult flemish can weigh20 lbs. and be close to 3 ft long.
take the length of the rabbit, the length and width of the litter box you are planning on using and see if both will fit in the crate.
There has to be sufficient space for the rabbit to turn arond jump around and to lay down if it choses, and most flemish prefer to lounge around a lot.
The size and weight of this hefty breed demands a lot of resting lol.

Large breeds like flemish do very well on solid bottom cages, wire cages no matter the guage tend to cut the feet pads and cause very sore feet, kin it to you standing on a wire grid for an hour bare foot, then multiply that by 24 hours, you will see the ouch factor.

Have him make your rabbit a real dog house 1 to 2 x's bigger than your rabbit.

I have a pair of standard rex and a trio of NZW, the biggest NZW doe (big as a small dog, I'm tellin ya!) is due in a couple weeks, the other two does are due in about 3 weeks. LOL I had my Uncle's wife ask me what I was gonna do with all those kits and I said, "eat 'em, what else?" Boy, I'll tell ya, she ranted and raved and said I deserved hell fire for hurtin those poor rabbits and I said they dont hurt for long and walked off. Next time they come over I'm gonna have fried rabbit and not tell her til after she eats it LOL! We get along so good.

LOL No, I wouldnt really do it, I aint that mean. But she is a jerk, when I was growin up, she done everything she could to get me in trouble, and bad. I asked one time what the heck that was all about and she said "Because your trash." Asked her what she meant by that and she basically said that since I grew up poor, with hillbillies and me bein a country bumpkin, and I butcher animals I aint worth spit. But its funny, ya know... She eats most of the animals I butcher, which is weird in and of itself, she's so deep in debt she couldn't get out if she lived to be 150, she caint hold a job for more than a few months at a time, and her kids are spoiled beyond belief, and I aint never told her she was trash... Thats what I dont understand about the whole deal.

Sounds like the only thing she's got going for her in her life is her imagined superiority. She probably knows deep down that she's the loser here.
