Backwards on the Egg Nest?

@Peppercorngal I have some Wyandottes now that they are older they go in, lay and go out without a sound. My pullets (none are Wyandottes, 7 different breeds) mostly cry and carry on like the sky is falling if they can't have the nest they want. Muffaletta (the EE I have pictured) likes the nest closest to the door, which is the least favorite for everyone else. Also she's low on the pecking order and might face inward so she doesn't have to face off with anyone challenging her spot. Just thought of that.

Chickens do the darndest things......she problaly enjoys her privacy that way. I have a hen that likes to lay on top of another in the nesting box while laying! She has lots of other boxes to lay in, but...NO! Haha!
While watching the hens laying yesterday I saw two hens get in the "favorite" nesting box at the same time! I had not seen that happen before. A third hen, a very vocal barred rock stood in front of them and tried to get them to hurry and get out so she could use the box! Nope, she finally shut up and used the box next to the "favorite". I just love watching all this go on. I have 28 hens and 18 boxes, the two at the bottom left and the two at the right top are the "favorites". :lau
