Backyard Brahmas!!

I have a mystery chick that I posted on here, and people seem to think it's a dark brahma. Agree? What do they look like when they get older? Ive seen them on here but they all look so different. Any way to tell what this one will look like when it is grown?
Any way to guess sex before they are older? I know NOTHING about brahmas lol hadn't heard of them before I found this little one.

What should I know about them?

I have to say that if you do a google search and look at images you will be surprised at what a pretty bird that will be. I sought out and drove over 100 miles one way to get mine since I think they are absolutely fantastic.

Nice find.

Oh and they are a very large bird at about 8 to 10 pounds for the hens.

I have heard they are super sweet and mellow. When I went to get mine I could not resist a buff and a light so I ended up with 6 Brahma.
So far so good. Mine are about 2 to 3 weeks now.

These are my dark brahma's two hens and cockerel, they are awesome birds very docile. They follow me around when feeding and have no problem allowing me to pick them up.

Looks like a dark to me based on the wing feathers that are coming in. Seeing the bit of yellow on it makes me think it might (and understand only might be) be a split cockerel. A little too young for me to be positive about it at this point.

Well that's not okay. No boys allowed :) lol (Only kidding)
Thanks for the help! They are interesting looking birds! Im excited to see what he(she) looks like in a few weeks!
Thanks again!

It is a little early to tell for sure whether it is a boy or a girl. The yellow makes me suspicious, I've seen that in my males before. Where did he/she come from?

I used to try to guess with my brahmas based on wing feather growth, and I thought I had it down. I think I got lucky in my first hatches with my guessing. Ever since, I have been wrong almost 50% of the time or more. NO more guessing!

Me too. I find the darks are really easy to tell, my partridge are not. The only reason I think this might be a male is because it's coloring looks like a split to me...only males are splits. Other than that, I'd probably guess female because it is awfully young to have wing feathers coming in. The real teller is if it gets a dark black single wing feather at the bottom of the wing....then it is a male, assuming it is a dark.

I've stopped guessing as well. I can usually start to sort it out at about two week, 90% sure at 3-4 weeks and 100% sure when they crow (or not). LOL.
