Backyard Brahmas!!

Pics
Thanks for the warm welcome - I will definitely get some close up shots and post them. Based on the previous answers, I was able to confirm tonight that I have one dark brahma and two silver penciled rocks. All three roos. The one that has a hint of feathering on his legs but nowhere near the amount any of our others is the one I need to get a better shot of him so you can all see what I mean.

BTW, CarolinaHen is your avatar photo a Golden Polish roo? We have one that looks much like that. Gorgeous bird!

He is a Golden Laced Polish :) They are the funniest birds ever!

Thanks to all of you for the warm welcome and all of the help! Based on your comments, I believe that we have one Dark Brahma (top photo), two Silver Penciled Rocks (middle photo) and that my mystery bird (third photo) is a Silver Laced Wyandotte. Would love to hear your opinions.

The photo above is what I believe to be a Dark Brahma standing next to a Silver Penciled Rock.

This is what I believe to be one of two Silver Penciled Rocks.

This bottom photo is one that I believe to be a Silver Laced Wyandotte...except his legs are neither feathered nor clean. You can see in the photo that he has just a hint of feathering which stumps me...

Thanks again for all of the guidance!

They are all three beautiful :) Regardless of what their actual breed is, they will give you beautiful chicks. There is a huge difference in the show ring world and the pet world. I showed dogs for many years which is why I choose to not even dip my toe in the waters of showing chickens. Love your birds and enjoy them!

I got all my brahmas from cackle. I love their birds!!

We have two silver laced cochins of the same age and they are all black and white, where this one has black with dark green sheen on tail. The body shape is also much different than the Cochins which is why I was leaning toward Wyandotte. Here is our Cochin by comparison.

Thanks! That is great advice. It is more my personal interest in knowing what they are than anything else. We don't expect to go into show business. They are definitely pets...each with their own name and "chicken-ality" as my son puts it. Makes us sad to have to re-home a number of the cockerels, but there are just too many for our flock size...as beautiful and gentlemanly as they are. Given that they are mostly rare heritage breeds I feel a responsibility to identify good homes for them so that we can contribute to their continued success as breeds.

Thanks again!
