Backyard Brahmas!!

There may be some fights at some point.  The dominant rooster won't let the non-dominant mate with any of the pullets.  Depending on the personalities, this can be a simple peck saying to leave the girls alone or can turn into an all out fight.  Just watch for any problems, one of them may need to be removed.

Unfortunately, my cockerel problem will be much bigger if 1/2 of what I hatch are cockerels. :)

Not really. My head dude has no problem letting roos #2 and #3 mate; nor any of the 9 bantam roos. He did, however, referee between #2 and #3 when ge decided they'd bickered enough. #2 just passed last week resulting we think from a horse kick. Roolet #13 is crowing; not sure on the chicks but likely at least one of the hatchlings is a boy. The most prolific baby daddy at this point is my birchen bantam cochin, who was not either 1, 2, or 3. Fwiw.

Hearing you all talk about your birds makes me so excited to see how mine are going to turn out! My uncle raised Brahmas and I always thought they were so beautiful. Once mine are big, I bet he'll want to start "talking chicken" with me. :)
