Backyard Brahmas!!

Now mine, when divided into breeding pens, seem to like to show off for the ladies by talking smack through the fence with the males in the neighboring pens. Knowing that they didn't need to back it up seems to encourage them. In years past when I could let everybody free range together after I had all the chicks I needed. These great braggarts that had been badmouthing their neighbors through the wire with impunity, would suddenly find themselves face to face with out the protection of the wire. and feathers would fly. After 10 minutes, or so, the order of the universe would be restored, and things would settle down. I don't believe you would get away with that with most breeds.
That is too funny. That is what mine do as well. Although I only have one cock bird and all of the rest of the cockerels are under 6 months old, they still like to puff up and pretend that they can take on the big boy (he pretty much ignores them and looks like he's saying "really, REALLY?" Tonight, a hawk was sighted and the only one with enough futzpah to stay outside and keep watch while the rest cowered in the coop was the big boy. So, I guess they don't have as much testosterone as they thought they did!

Along the same lines, the only time mine get their dander up is when I'm grabbing their girls. Even then, they posture and make some noise, but they never approach or object with any type of violence. Now some of the girls can get a little aggressive when I am handling them, but their pecks are generally pretty non threatening. But all of them come over to the fence to talk to me when I'm out there and are generally very non-flighty birds. My last flock of layers would run away when I came toward the fence and hide under the tree until I left (unless of course I had some favorite treats to entice them out). The brahmas seem very non-plussed about almost everything....exceptions are hawks and dogs (probably due to experience).

I´d love to see what the Brahmas from there look like. After all, they pretty well originated there, but were really developed in the States. Are they called Brahmas in Pakistan? Or do you have there birds with the old names of Chittigong or Shanghai which they first had when they were imported to the west? Or maybe they were developed along different lines, and what you have may be the "Brahma" from where you are....
Looking forward to photos from your research.

Brahmas here are the same as you guys have. Because the breeders here in Pakistan imports the Brahmas from UK, US or AUSTRALIA. That is why they look the same. And breeders here have developed a new colour variety of Brahma called Black Partridge Brahma which is a mix of Dark brahma with Black brahma (that's what i think). And they're pretty expensive here because 2 or 3 breeders have them in whole country. Lol.
Here are some photos of black partridge brahma.

Haha.. My brahma cockerel loves to tease cats and crows. Whenever a cat, crow or even a dog passes nearby, he just runs away towards it to fight... I have one Aseel (Indian) cock as well who always ignores other animals.. They had a fight last week for a lady.. 5 seconds later buff brahma was unable to stand properly.. When i saw all this I locked my aseel cock up.. They're tough fighters <3

I also think they´re adorable.... but in the Brahmas. Not being in the US, there´s

Those are some incredible looking birds. I think I like the dark brahmas most of all. These are dark brahmas but even better.. lovely lovely birds.

The odds of getting the rare "right combo" in these projects is improved if you hatch like a crazy person, and I'm not talking about walking around arguing with yourself kind of crazy here.  The more you have to choose from the better until you have refined the variables some.

This is why it is always your best investment to buy the best quality birds you can afford from a breeder of an established line. They, or the folks before them have done many years of this hard work for you.

Thankyou, he's 5 months. He's supposed to be a birchen Brahma, but I was thinking he kinda looks like the pics you posted. Though names of colors are different in other countries
