Backyard Brahmas!!

I'm right there with you! I don't think I'll know until they either lay and egg or crow. Lol
Ha, Mine are 12 weeks+ today and I will try my hardest to get a pic of the pair. Even a month ago it was unmistakable that the roo was a roo. He is almost 2x as big, his comb and wattles are raspberry pink and growing way more than the little girl.
This is him at about 9 weeks. notice the start of the pointy feathers in the tail and his wattles are really raspberry and his comb is pronounced and getting redder. I will try to take and post a pic of them together tonight for comparison.

That's very helpful, thank you! I'm sure at least one is a roo now. He has a pointy tail feather. Both of my suspects have different tails than the other 4. That's what made me suspicious in the first place. Though the one I thought was a roo from the start (he? developed a lot slower) I'm not 100% on. The other one snuck up on me. I just happened to notice the tail last week.

This is a female I'm pretty sure. Wanted to throw her in there just for comparison. 4 of them have tails like this. Some have very pink combs and wattles though.

The one on the right is a suspected roo.

Pretty sure the one in the middle is a roo. Not sure if you can see the pointy tail feather.

I tried to get a close up of the comb. It's not very pink. Some of the pullets have redder combs.

The one in the front is the one I'm not sure on. It has a different tail but no pointy feathers that I can see. Comb is bigger though. Though still not very red.

Same one.

Tried to get a side view of the comb.

The 2 boys? on the coop floor. Girls on the roost. I think you can see the pointy tail feather of the one in this pic?

Sorry for bombarding everyone with pics! Hopefully someone can tell me something with these. I'm clueless. Lol!

I agree. I think the Dark Brahmas are easier though.
Yes. Dark Brahmas I can sex at about 2 weeks. My partridge sometimes that early, but usually at 3 weeks I'm pretty confident, at 4 weeks I'm about 99% sure. Usually still have one or two that are gender neutral and need another month before I'm sure.....those are the ones that look like pullets when they are next to the boys and look like cockerels when they are next to the girls.

I suspect you are leaning in the right suspicion. The legs of both seem thicker also, that is another clue. Also their faces are a but brighter pink. It is helpful for the experienced ones to guess if you get a good close up of the comb straight on (watch for too much glare from direct light or flash because it obscures the clarity needed to see the 3 rows .

Great thank you! I'll try to get some close ups.

Ok I got a few close ups of the 2 suspected roos. What do y'all think? Sorry if some are a bit blurry. They really don't like to hold still! Lol

Some of the colors look amplified in the pictures. Their faces don't look nearly that red in real life, to me anyway. Thanks for the help!

Oh yeah, if I was guessing mine would be rooster for both as well but wait for other more experienced to chime in.
