Oh that sound good!! Hopefully she's her ol self in the morning. She is in a "normal" chicken sleeping pose. Feet tucked under her and head resting on her chest instead of all sprawled out.
Thanks, my friend. We're heading back to South Dakota next week and by the sounds of it I'm not looking forward to the heat and humidity again. I'll keep a close watch on the chickens before I leave (been in the 90s here for two days) and make sure my chicken sitter does too. This is the first time I have ever had this happen. She has been "toying" with being broody and I wonder if that didnt have something to do with it.
Their feathering is actually helpful to keep them cool. But, The small pea comb that is great in winter is almost useless in cooling them. Ultimately I believe there are a few contributing factors but definitely always something to keep an eye out for.
