Backyard outing

We took the girls out today, yep all 4, lol! theyre about 4 1/2 weeks old and well feathered. Is now a good time to cut the heat lamp? All last week it's been about 80 in their box. House temp never goes below @ 65*.

They will be fine without the light at this age. They look happy out and about in the grass frolicking with their little human friend.

I'd cut the lamp. The only reason I keep a lamp after this age is if its suppose to snow or be below the 20's. But I also send my chicks out to the coop at 2 1/2 weeks.

And further more, I had an infrared thermometer and noticed last week my chicks were @ 90*.

I just checked on them and they are huddled together, minus the blonde one.

They had a blast outside. Took them a couple minutes before their instincts to start kicking in! All the sounds and my daughter running around the yard, I told the chicks they better get used to that, hope they heard me!
