Backyard Slaughter- same dumb dog

Really sorry to hear about your loss. The last few times our dog got ahold of them, they were our daughter's favorites too. We feel your pain, and hope that you can find another to replace them. If I get any more Serama pullets, I'll save one for you.

I'm sorry for your loss. I know all to well how it feels when a dog or anything for that matter kills a beloved chicken. I lost several birds last fall/early winter to my neighbors dog including one that was both mine and my childrens favorite.

My little dogs is very good with the chickens, but I wouldn't let him be unsupervised with them. You might want to try what we do. About 15 feet from my backdoor is a stake in the ground. I have a piece of clothesline tied to it. The clothesline is long enough to reach inside the house and has a hook on the end. When Leo needs to go outside he is hooked on the rope and let out. When he wants back in, we just open the door, and he come in, rope and all. Even the laziest of family members can handle this because they don't have to go outside to put the dog on the rope. Leo is safer because he can't leave the yard. The chickens are safer (even though he doesn't appear to pose a threat) because they can get out of his reach.
