bad batch of cornish cross, ever had this happen? pics on post #12

My 75 from Welp are progressing very well after 2 weeks.

i think i will try 20 from whelp and 20 from ideal in the spring. we will see. but i will for sure be ordering from one of them!

Sorry that happened to you. I had something similar happen with my first batch of meat birds, and it was so disappointing after all that work. We think they must have been white rocks that were sent by mistake. The first person I got hold of at the hatchery argued with me. I called back later to talk to a supervisor (as the first CS rep told me to do), and whoever I got hold of the second time cheerfully refunded my money. I've gotten subsequent batches by splitting an order with a large farmer who's a neighbor. She gets them from Welp or Ideal, I think. All of those batches have worked out great.

I second or third Welp hatchery. The cx I have right now are by far superior to the ones I had been getting from the "farm" store.

If you want to raise em with your layers, my local feedstore sells a 20% layer pellet. a lil more protein shouldnt hurt a layin bird should it?
