There was one place that made a mistake on a sale. I ended up with a discount of like $10. I returned and they said that it was their fault, thanked me for being honest and told me that since it was their fault, it was my benefit. I'd try for a refund through paypal, then return to them with the bushes and ask for a full refund.

You bought 8 blueberries @ $15.00 got a free yew worth $7.50. Did you actually get $57 worth of other items??
I would have reminded the Mother that her daughter said I'll have to give you a discount.
You could play innocent and go back with the blueberries and say they made another mistake and gave you only 1 yr old cuttings. Maybe look up online for pictures of what one, two and three yr old cuttings root systems should look like and bring a copy with you.

Perhaps maybe the 30yr old daughter did make a mistake and give you the wrong cuttings??

I'd be teed off as well. I would somehow try to get something back. Try just bringing them all back and telling them they will not work for you.

Did they even give you a receipt for the cash payment?

If not I'd request a receipt for all of it now. Maybe then go back with that in hand for a refund or exchange.

Sorry for the rambling. But you should be happy with your purchase.

As far as the exceptional chickens, maybe she didn't mean anything by it. It is after all your websites name. ??? Or she could just be the mother hen and rule the roost and have an additude problem.
Wish I wasn't all the way up here in WI or I'd pay them a visit !! LOL

Good luck,

Keep us posted.

I would take the 5 remaining plants that are unplanted - BACK for a refund. Then, I would buy them from a better/reputable source. I'm a little surprised they contacted you about the difference.

I did reply to their email and said that the daughter had said that she would give me a discount and I assumed that was reflected in the price. I did buy 8 blueberry...2 Japanese maples... 2 thornless blackberry... 1 raspberry... and the English Yew. All the plants EXCEPT for the blueberries had new growth. So, just to recap... I paid $120 at the farm... and then they emailed and asked for $57.65 - which I paypaled.

I think it's just mighty shadey. To put them in 1 gallon pots!!??! Obvious that they want you to believe that the root system is large. And besides that... they SAID more than once and even in print... 3rd year bushes!! Oh, their website says 2nd year bushes.

No, there is absolutely no chance I got cuttings instead of the advertised bushes... I specifically said whe she asked what I was looking for "the climax and premeir blueberry bushes that were posted in the trader" And besides THAT.... I was charged $15 per CLIPPING. I could have got clippings for free! No one pays for brand new, not fully established CUTTINGS! ...... well, I guess I did.

Here is a update:

I wrote a email and I tend to get long winded. I called my mother up and read it to her to see if it was too harsh and such.

She then told me just to forget it. To tell everyone I know who says something about them what my experiences were, but to otherwise forget it. She says they are too close to home and now have my name, chicken buisness name, address, phone number and that is enough to do damage to me. Obviously they have no problem lying. She tends to be a worry wart but she has a point... if they wanted, they could easily say "I got her chickens and they....." Ya know? ARG! $120 for cuttings!!!

Not to mention, if they pay any attention to their website info, they will be here soon. I know I clicked on those links. they will see how irritated you are about this and that you are going to tell everyone you know about this place. That might be enough to make them mend their ways.

Hey, Sune.... Remember my comment about how farmers around here throw "green" phrases around as selling points?! Didn't I say it!?!? Sorry, I guess I like to make my point, even after I made it. (and in a totally different thread)

It's sad. They are the only "organic" grower around that I know of. I'm not sure about the Amish... you would think they are organic without trying. Hmmm.

I didn't get around to putting mine in the ground today. Working hard on the "quad" (it's my 4 in 1 coop that I'm in the process of building).

I still say the line about "while talking to you about your exceptional chickens" was smug. If they said something else about my website or chickens, I may not have taken it that way... but they didn't... so it came off as a insult. Whatever. I know what my chickens are made of.

I just think that is aweful "b@llsy". Sorry for the language.

Yup, you did. I would go with the Amish personally, even if they aren't certified organic, they would probably be a better choice than most. Maybe I say that because I have no Amish close to me.

First time I ever saw an Amish person was when I went to get my chicks.

I agree, when I read the exceptional chickens part, I thought smug. Then after finding out that's the name, I don't know. Some people have a funny way of talking, it would be hard to say without talking to the lady. I hope the bushes do well. You should see the twig I bought at the store, at least I knew it was a twig I guess.
